Why Metaintro Uses Location Data
Location is one of the most important factors in any job search. Whether you are looking for roles in your hometown, exploring opportunities in a new city, or targeting fully remote positions, your location data helps Metaintro deliver results that actually matter to you.
What Location Data Does
When you provide your location or allow Metaintro to detect it, we use that information to make your job search more effective:
Shows Nearby Jobs
Metaintro uses your location to surface job opportunities in your immediate area. You see openings from local employers first, reducing the noise of irrelevant listings from across the country or world.
Filters by Preferred Location
You can set a preferred job location that differs from your current one. Planning a move to Austin? Set Austin as your preferred location, and Metaintro will prioritize jobs there. Specify preferences at the city, state, or country level depending on how broad you want your search to be.
Handles Remote Job Restrictions
Many remote positions have geographic restrictions based on tax laws, time zones, or company policies. Your location data helps Metaintro filter remote jobs accurately so you only see opportunities actually available to someone in your area.
How Location Improves Your Experience
Beyond basic search results, location data powers several features:
Personalized job alerts — Notifications about new openings that match your skills and are available in your preferred location
Salary context — More accurate salary ranges since compensation varies significantly by geography
Employer matching — Companies hiring in your region are more likely to appear in your results
Commute awareness — For in-office and hybrid roles, location helps estimate commute feasibility
Local market insights — Understand job market dynamics in your area, including growing industries and in-demand roles
How to Set and Update Your Location
You have full control over your location settings and can change them anytime.
Review your location settings
In Account Settings
Go to your account settings
Navigate to the profile or preferences section
Update your current location or set a preferred job search location
Save your changes
In a Search Thread
You can also adjust your location directly within a Threads conversation:
Tell Metaintro where you want to search (for example, "Show me marketing jobs in Miami")
Use the filter panel next to the chat bar to set or change your location filter
Your preference within a Thread is saved for that conversation and can differ from your global settings
This flexibility lets you run multiple Threads targeting different cities or regions without changing your main profile.

Your Privacy Is Protected
We take your location privacy seriously:

Not shared without your consent — We do not sell or share your precise location with employers, advertisers, or third parties without your explicit permission
You control the precision — Provide a general area (city or state) rather than a precise address
Deletable on request — Contact our support team to have your location data removed
Transparent usage — For full details, see our Privacy Policy
